More power at anchor, fewer generator hours, modern navigation and an installation you can trust. I design and carry out upgrades of onboard electrical systems – from a single device to a complete refit with documentation.
I am based in Capoterra (Cagliari). Winter is the best time for larger projects, and I fly in to yachts anywhere in the Mediterranean.
I start by checking what is on board and talking about how you use the yacht. From that I calculate the energy budget, select the equipment and prepare a work plan with a quote. When the job is done you receive the wiring diagram and a list of the changes made.
LiFePO4 banks with BMS, alternator charging via DC-DC or external regulators, alternator protection, inverter-chargers, solar panels with MPPT controllers. Victron Energy systems with local and remote monitoring.
New distribution panels, circuit protection, replacement of old wiring, shore power inlet with galvanic isolator or isolation transformer and RCD, automatic source switching.
Chartplotters, autopilots, radar, AIS, wind instruments and NMEA 2000 networks. Integration of B&G, Raymarine, Garmin and Simrad equipment, including when only part of the system is replaced.
LED lighting, power for fridges and air conditioning, watermakers, remote monitoring of batteries and alarms on your phone. Fewer generator and engine hours at anchor.
You do not have to do everything at once. I prepare a plan in stages, so that each stage works on its own and fits with the next ones. The first stage can simply be an audit of the installation with a list of recommendations.
Owners preparing for longer passages, new owners of second-hand yachts, charter companies standardising their fleet, and shipyards and dealers looking for a subcontractor for refits. I work to ABYC and ISO principles.
If you spend a lot of time at anchor or have little space for batteries – usually yes. Lithium gives more usable energy for less weight and charges faster. It does require matching the alternator charging and the whole system, which is why I start with an energy budget.
From one day for a single device to several weeks for a full refit. I set the date after the audit; larger projects are best planned for winter.
Yes. At the end I hand over the wiring diagram, a list of installed equipment with settings and a measurement report. This makes future servicing – and selling the yacht – easier.
Yes. I first check that it suits the installation. Warranty on customer-supplied equipment is provided by the seller; I am responsible for the installation.
Yes. For larger upgrades I fly in to yachts across the Mediterranean. For trips I charge a minimum of one working day.
Planning an upgrade for this winter?
Tell me which yacht and what you would like to change – I will propose the scope and a date.
