Supervision and care of the yacht in Sardinia

Raport fotograficzny z wizyty kontrolnej na jachcie, przesyłany armatorowi na bieżąco

It’s Wednesday morning, you are two hours flight away from Sardinia, you are starting a business meeting, and in Cagliari, the first autumn storm is just passing through. Your yacht is standing alone in the marina — without a crew, without anyone to check the moorings, or simply to look and see if everything is as it should be. You know well that you can’t fully rely on the harbor masters. For most owners keeping a vessel away from home, this is the most uncomfortable part of yacht ownership — not the absence itself, but the uncertainty of what is happening in their absence. I know, because I’ve been in this situation living in Tuscany when the yacht was already in Cagliari.

I oversee and take care of yachts stationed in Sardinia all year round — from regular inspections of the vessel's condition, to responding to bad weather, to full winter preparation and spring system startups. One constant point of contact who knows your yacht personally, instead of an anonymous service report every time something needs attention.

Why on-site supervision matters

A yacht left unattended for weeks or months doesn’t suddenly break down — it deteriorates quietly. A minor leak in the hatch, which someone would notice during a weekly visit, can turn into a flooded cabin needing upholstery repairs after a month. A loose mooring line during a storm, which could have been tightened in five minutes, may lead to hull damage against a neighboring boat after a night of strong winds. Regular, physical presence at the yacht is not a formality — it’s the difference between a minor intervention and an expensive repair that you only learn about upon your return.

Comprehensive yacht condition check

Regular inspections of the hull, deck, mooring lines, and equipment — extending beyond just the electrical systems that I know best, but encompassing the overall condition of the vessel as a whole. I check the water level in the bilge, the state of the batteries and charging system, the tightness of hatches and windows, the condition of the mooring lines and fenders, as well as signs of corrosion or mechanical damage before they become a serious issue. Ongoing checks are not only a way to minimize losses but sometimes the only chance to avoid finding a damaged yacht in the spring, without a chance to locate the culprit who set sail into the distance...

Responding to weather changes and emergency situations

A storm or strong wind warning is a signal to go to the site — check or adjust the mooring, inspect closures and covers, secure everything that could be damaged during a night of bad weather. The same applies to unusual situations that require physical presence at the yacht, not just a phone call — I intervene on-site, not from behind a desk.

Current work and maintenance

I carry out minor repairs and maintenance tasks detected during inspections immediately, during the same visit—without the need to schedule a separate appointment and wait for someone else to find the time. This is a real saving of time and money for issues that would otherwise keep the shipowner waiting for weeks. Sometimes, it’s enough to rinse the deck of salt and sand from the Sahara; sometimes, tidying up the rigging is needed; and sometimes, it’s necessary to report more serious problems.

Winter preparation and readiness for the season

Comprehensive winterization of the yacht before the winter season — including the electrical installation and onboard systems, which I know best from a technical standpoint — minimizes the risk of failures that only become apparent during the first spring start-up. In spring — a full pre-season check and activation of all systems, so the yacht is ready for its first cruise before you even step on board.

You know what's happening — even when you're not there

Every visit to the yacht ends with a current report and photographic documentation — you don't need to ask if someone was there and what they found, because you know it in advance. You always have access to your own folder with photos and videos on Google Drive. This is the difference between trusting "blindly" and having real control over the state of your own property, even from the other end of Europe.

Coverage in Sardinia

"I am based in Cagliari, with access across the entire island — from Porto Cervo and Costa Smeralda, through Olbia, Alghero, La Maddalena, and Palau, to Sant'Antioco and Calasetta in the south. If your yacht is docked in another marina in Sardinia, just ask — the coverage regularly expands. And the range of services is tailored individually."

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do check-up visits take place?

I set the frequency individually with each owner — it depends on the location of the yacht, the time of year, and how long the unit remains unattended by the owner. Write to me about your situation, and I will propose an appropriate schedule.

What happens if you find a serious defect during an inspection that goes beyond routine maintenance?

I inform you immediately, with a description and photos, and together we determine the next steps — whether it is a scope that I can handle myself (electrical, electronics, onboard hydraulics), or if it requires the involvement of another specialist, whom I coordinate on-site.

Do you also take care of the yacht while I'm present in Sardinia, not just in my absence?

Yes — yacht care is an ongoing service, regardless of whether you are currently on site. During your stay, we can also plan maintenance, upgrades, or preparations for your next cruise right away, or I can simply help you pay attention to things you might overlook.

Is this the same service as wintering a yacht?

Winterizing and spring startup are part of year-round maintenance, not a separate, one-time service. Due to the extensive scope of work and possible variety, it is priced separately along with the necessary materials.

Are you only dealing with electricity, or the full condition of the yacht?

The supervision covers the overall condition of the yacht — hull, deck, mooring lines, equipment — and electrical and electronic systems, in which I have the most experience, are its natural, additional asset: I diagnose and repair faults in this area immediately, without involving additional service providers. As a sailor and owner, I share a similar perspective with you. The yacht is not just an ordinary object to me.

Let's go back to that Wednesday morning and the storm over Cagliari.

You can worry about it — or know that someone is already there, checking the moorings and will soon send you a photo that everything is fine.

If you prefer the latter version — let's talk about overseeing your yacht.
